CM PRESIDES OVER A HIGH-LEVEL MEETING TO REVIEW IMPLEMENTATION

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting to review progress and implementation of Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that under “Pakian Sarkan, Saukhay Painday” programme, construction and rehabilitation of thousands kilometer rural roads at cost of billions of rupees is continuing. He said that third phase of this programme will be completed by November 30, after which its fourth phase will be launched. He said that people living in villages have benefitted substantially under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme and due to this revolutionary step of the Punjab government, rural economy is being set on strong foundations. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme will change the life style of rural population and farmers will bring their agri produce to markets easily and a revolution in rural economy will usher in due to this exemplary programme. Shehbaz Sharif said that high quality roads are being constructed in rural areas of the province under this programme and protection and look after of these roads being constructed at a cost of billions of rupees is our responsibility. Decision has been made to evolve an effective system of excel load management in view of look after and protection of the roads, he added. The Chief Minister directed tree plantation on both sides of newly constructed roads. He said that under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme, best facilities of communication will become available to the rural population and this is a great programme of public welfare and we all have to move it forward. Secretary Communication and & Works gave a detailed briefing regarding implementation and progress of the programme. Provincial Ministers, Secretary Forests, Secretary Law and concerned officials were present on the occasion. Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Tanvir Aslam Malik from Chakwal while Chairman Planning & Development participated in the meeting from his office through video link.
