Mirwaiz denounces assault on people’s religious rights in IoK

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): The Chairman of Hurriyet forum,
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly denounced the continued lockdown
of historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar since July 9, 2016.
According to KMS, Farooq, who continues to be under house
detention, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the assault
on people’s religious rights and obligations was a way of
punishing them and hurting their religious sentiments.
The Mirwaiz said, like a battleground the puppet authorities
fortify the grand mosque and the areas around it with Indian
forces’ personnel and declare a war against Muslims who want to
offer prayers there. The shameless authorities arrest and jail
anyone heeding the call of faith dares to defy the anti-Islam
policy and tries to offer prayers there, he deplored.
He appealed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,
Ulema, scholars and religious organizations across the world to raise
their voice against the miserable situation of human, religious and political rights of the people of occupied Kashmir and state terrorism unleashed upon them by India.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyet forum in a statement issued in
Srinagar denounced the continued house arrest and detention of
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Ghulam Nabi Zaki,
Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, other
resistance leaders and political and religious activists and
thousands of youth. It termed the action as frustration of the
puppet authorities.
