Team of activists depicts Indian brutalities in IoK

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): A twenty-five member team from
India that recently visited occupied Kashmir has documented the
Indian brutalities on the people of the territory during the
ongoing mass uprising.
According to KMS, the team representing people’s movements, women’s
organisations, trade unions, human rights organisations, youth
organisations and individuals who are journalists, writers and
filmmakers from occupied Kashmir and different Indian states
visited the occupied territory from 11 to 20 November 2016 with
the objective of understanding first-hand, from ordinary people
and civil society, the situation of the people of the Kashmir
Valley that has emerged over the past four-and-half months since
the extrajudicial killing of Burhan Wani, Sartaj Sheikh and
Pervaiz Lashkari, by Indian troops 8th July, 2016. The killings
had triggered mass uprising in the territory.
The team recommended urged India to recognise the Kashmir
dispute and accept that its resolution can only come through a
political solution, not through military intervention and a
suppression of all human and democratic rights. It called upon New
Delhi to withdraw the army and other paramilitary forces from
civilian areas of Jammu and Kashmir, repeal draconian laws, PSA
and AFSPA, and release all political prisoners. It also called for
granting a UN fact-finding mission access to occupied Kashmir and
establishment of a judicial tribunal u to examine all cases of
extra-judicial killings, including that of Burhan Wani.
“We also call upon all Indian citizens to recognise that the
actions of the Indian state in the Kashmir Valley are far removed
from the values of a democratic republic and beyond the pale by
any acceptable norms of a civilised society in the 21st century.
We call upon all Indian people to ensure that the injustices
against Kashmiri people are brought to an end and their democratic
aspirations addressed,” the team members concluded.
