Quality education top priority of AJK govt: Masood

MIRPUR (AJK), (MILLAT+APP): President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir,
Sardar Masood Khan on late Thursday said that since the bright future of the nations
was attached with the quality education, the AJK government was taking all requisite steps for its promotion and dispensation.
Masood Khan, also the Chancellor of the state controlled
Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST), was
addressing the Senate of the Varsity.
The Senate meeting accorded formal approval of various items
moved and discussed in line with the agenda items including those
related to further improvement of studies besides those related to
the welfare and uplift of the professional skills of the faculties.
Vice Chancellor MUST Prof Dr. Habib ur Rehman apprised the
house of the efforts by the varsity to provide the quality education
in over 22 disciplines of Science and Technology, Engineering as
well as in General Science and Information Technology through the
highly educated faculty of academicians in a conducive environment
in line with the criteria determined by the Higher Education
Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the global needs.
He said since the universities perform the basic role in the
speedy progress and prosperity of the nations and the countries, the
MUST use to review the quality of the syllabus keeping in view the
needs of the modern era.
The MUST has primarily focused to produce the high quality
graduates including those enriched with more higher studies in
various disciplines falling in science and technology so that they
could perform their due role for the economic progress and
prosperity through their high intellect and pen after completing
their studies, he added.
He said the students will also have to be enriched with
the due skills besides the degrees by focusing their full
attention to be acquainted and benefitted of the quality education
which the varsity was striving hard to deliver.
The VC said that the varsity management has focused to
improve the teaching environment for the guidance of the students.
The meeting was attended by the members of the senate
including Syed Shahid Muhi ud din, Secretary Higher Education AJK,
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan from NDU, Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain
Qureshi, Representative of HEC from Islamabd, Engr. Nadeem Ashraf,
G.M. Power Wing NESPAK, Dr. Muhamamd Riaz Mughal, Dean Engineering,
MUST, Engr. Prof, Muhammad Shabir Mirza of Electrical Engineering
Dept. (MUST), Munir Ahmed Ch. Director QEC, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Syed
Kashif Hussain Shah and others.
