Many rendered homeless as Handwara village catches fire

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): At least 19 families were rendered homeless
after a massive fire engulfed Handwara town ,Indian occupied Kashmir (ioK) on Friday.
According to KMS , around 34 houses including structures were gutted
in the devastating blaze that broke out on Wednesday night at Tand Mohalla of Wadder Payeen Rajwar area of the town.
However, the cause of fire was not ascertained. Inhabitants further added that there was no loss of life in the incident.
They said that once the news spread in the area people in large numbers, especially youth reached to the spot and started rescue operations, carrying water in buckets and other utensils to douse the rising flames.
“A minor fire incident engulfed the entire area as fire tenders failed to reach on time which proves the irresponsible attitude of the department,” said the local inhabitants.
“When we were having dinner, we heard shouts `get water, get water. When we came out we saw the house in front of our house on fire. It spread so fast we couldn’t even free our cattle from cow sheds”, said Ghulam Ahmed Mir whose 2 storey building was completely destroyed in the inferno. “We are not sure how did the fire broke out.
There was no electricity so we can’t say it was a short
circuit”, said Ali Muhammad Mir.
The actual estimate of loss is yet to be calculated. However, there was no loss of human life in the incident. Some cattle were charred to death.
