Politicians, business community hail inclusion of three mega projects of KP in CPEC

PESHAWAR millat+(APP): The politicians and leaders of business community of Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) here Friday hailed approval of three mega development projects by the Pakistan-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that would help expedite pace of economic development in the province.
Faud Ishaq, former President of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) told APP that JCC’s approval of 1700mega watt electricity project, circular railway track between Peshawar-Charsadda-Nowshera-Mardan and Swabi and establishment of state of the art Economic Zone along the motorway in Rasakai Nowshera in the framework of CPEC would make very positive effects on the growth of industries besides promoting infant industrial units in the province.
He said energy shortfall was the major problem that affecting the overall growth of KP industries and the approval of 1700mw project would immense help to generate inexpensive electricity for agriculture, industrial and human consumption.
Ishaq said if 1000mw electricity out of 1700mw were provided to the energy starved KP industries than it would not only generate employment opportunities for youth but would help alleviate poverty, ensure autarky in food and controlling inflation.
He said businessmen of KP was spending huge amount for bringing raw materials from the sea port of Karachi and the construction/modernization of Peshawar-DI Khan-Karachi double railway track would not only save their hard earned money besides increasing lives of highways and motorways.
Traffic jam is a major problem of Peshawar and the residents of this walled city still awaited PTI government to honour its pledge of introducing rapid and metro bus service in Peshawar.
The approval of circular railway track for Peshawar would help provide better transport services to the residents of Peshawar division.
The dualization of DI Khan-Zhob road under CPEC would help bolster regional connectivity besides generating employment opportunities and bringing less developed areas at par of developed regions of the country.
The KPCC former Chief appreciated the efforts of Federal Minister P&D and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal and Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak for approval these mega projects for KP.
Rushad Khan MPA also welcomed the approval of three mega projects for KP and termed it mega step forward in revival of foreign investment in the province.
Khan said Government was focusing on sustained and uniformed economic development in the country and every province including AJK and Gilgit Baltistan would be equally benefited from CPEC.
The MPA stressed the need exchange of delegations of people, politicians, lawmakers and businessmen of both countries, students exchange of programs and learning of Chinese/Urdu language to take advantage of each others expertise.
