Senate’s joint panel for establishment of permanent CCI Secretariat

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): A joint Senate Panel of Functional
Committee on Devolution and Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial
Coordination held here at Parliament House under the chair of Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi unanimously recommended the establishment of permanent
secretariat of Council of Common Interests (CCI).
Senators including Taj Haider, Muhammad Ali Khan Saif,
Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Chaudhary Tanvir Khan, Atta-ur-Rehman
Saeed Ul Haasan Mandokhail, Mukhtiar Ahmed Dharmrah, Sassui Palijo,
Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, besides Minister for Inter-
Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Peerzada and other officials
attended the meeting.
The joint panel of Senate also recommended that CCI should be
independent and autonomous body like Senate and National Assembly
Secretariat working without under any ministry.
It also recommended that the head of CCI should be changed
after one/two years by rotation to the provinces and
next Chairman would be suggested or nominated by the concerned
provincial government.
The Senate Body recommended that government should issue the
proper annual calendar of CCI meetings and to increase the annual
budget to make it more strengthen.
Chairman Committee said that “after the devolution of
Ministries, the provinces have a large number of issues pending with
federal but there was no resolution for them. It is need of the time
that all political parties should play their vital role collectively
to address all issues”.
Senator Sassu Palijo, Taj Haider and Muhammad Ali Saif urged
that after the permanent establishment of CCI Secretariat all
problems and differences of provinces with Federation would be
resolved.
Riaz Hussain Peerzada Minister for Inter-provincial
Coordination informed the body that with the establishment of CCI
Secretariat the provinces would bring closed to Federation.
