DeM denounces re-arrest of Sarjan Barkati

ISLAMABAD,(MILLAT+APP): Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) has
strongly condemned the re-arrest of Hurriyet activist, Sarjan
Barkati, after his detention under draconian law, Public Safety
Act (PSA), was quashed by the court in Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DeM General Secretary, Nahida
Nasreen in a statement issued in Held Srinagar termed the re-arrest of Sarjan Barkati as the height of suppression.
“The court had quashed his PSA but the police arrested him
again which is highly condemnable,” she said.
Nahida Nasreen said that Sarjan Barkati was arrested on
October 1 and was later booked under the PSA and shifted to Kot
Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. The re-arrest of Barkati was political
retribution, she said.
DeM General Secretary said that Sarjan Barkati was
instrumental in arranging massive pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan
rallies in the parts of south Kashmir which unnerved the puppet
rulers.
Nahida said that occupied Kashmir was being directly
ruled by Sangh Parivaar and their agents had no authority in any
of the affairs. “We are facing this lawlessness for last 70 years
and India is bulldozing every move which it thinks can challenge
its authority,” she said.
