Govt spends 28 pc budget on education: Minister

PESHAWAR, (APP): Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary
Education, Muhammad Atif Khan Friday said the provincial government has accorded high priority to education sector by spending 28 percent of the total budget on uplift of education in order to prepare children for the modern’s days’ challenges ahead.
He was addressing the stone-laying ceremony of a private school in
Nowshera.The function was attended by district Nazim Liauqat Khattak, senior officers of education department and elites of the area.
The Minister planted a sapling of tree in the school’s premises by
inaugurating spring tree plantation campaign in Nowshera.
He said that a record 28 percent budget was being spent on
education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”Our top priority is education as we believed that sustained progress could only be achieved through an educated nation”, he added.
“The big challenge before us was restoration of people’s confidence on
government schools and improving its standards from reputed private schools. When we succeed in this mission the people would against prefer to admit their kids in government schools,” he remarked.
The Minister said that Rs 10 billion were released against Rs 43 billion
estimated cost, for provision of basic facilities to government schools such as construction of boundary walls and washrooms.
To overcome shortage of teachers in public sector schools, the minister
said that 25,000 teachers were recruited under a transparent procedure through NTS.
He said the enemy of education would not be allowed to deprive
students with this ornament and government would come hard against such elements what may be.
