Senate body for establishing CCI secretariat at earliest

ISLAMABAD(MILLAT+APP): Senate Functional Committee on Devolution Wednesday recommended that work on the establishment of Council of Common Interest (CCI) secretariat should be expedited.
The committee met here at the parliament house under the chairmanship of Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi.
The committee also recommended that Regulatory Authorities should be independent to ensure transparency.
The committee also expressed concerns over the absence of senior officials of Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) in the meeting.
The members of the committee said the issues related to devolution should be resolved as soon possible.
The committee also said it would also hold its meetings in all provinces to discuss the matters regarding devolution.
Members of the committee Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Senator Nisar Muhammad, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Senator Atta-ur-Rehman, Senator Taj Haider, Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Senator Sassui Palijo, Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar and Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq also attended the meeting.
Senior officials of Ministries of Cabinet Division, Inter Provincial Coordination, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) also attended the meeting.
