Curfew, curbs imposed in Kulgam, other parts of IoK

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Indian authorities have imposed curfew and other restrictions in parts of Kashmir including Srinagar and Kulgam districts to foil the today’s march towards Kulgam district.
According to KMS, call for the march has been given by joint resistance leadership to protest against the killing of six local youth by Indian forces at Frisal in Kulgam on Sunday. Over 30 people were injured, many with pellets and bullets, during the ensuing clashes in the area.
Government officials told media that all roads leading to Kulgam had been closed and nobody was allowed to move towards the town. They said restrictions under Section 144 CrPC were imposed and people were advised to remain indoors.
Earlier, Director General of Police, SP Vaid told media that restrictions would be imposed in parts of the Valley during the day, today.
“We will impose restrictions in parts of the valley to ensure peace,” DGP said. He said curfew may be imposed in parts of the Valley if the situation demands.
Meanwhile, police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force have been deployed in strength in all sensitive areas. “All the measures are to be taken to prevent people from taking to the streets and march towards Kulgam,” the police official said.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam said that precautionary measures would be in place across the district. “All the precautionary measures will be taken in order to ensure peace in the district,” he said.
