Model plantation along LRRA

LAHORE, (MILLAT/APP): Commissioner Lahore Division and
Chairperson Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) Abdullah Khan
Sumbal Thursday said that work on plantation and rest
areas along Southern Loop of Lahore Ring Road was being
carried out.
Talkong to APP, he said that ample trees would be planted
at various pieces of land measuring about 170-kanal in total and
these would be a great source of oxygen.
“The oxygen pockets would be developed through dense
forestation reflecting a look of jungles along the southern
loop,” he said.
He said that the completion of Southern Loop (SL) would
expedite economic activity in the metropolis and
provide better commutaion facility to the citizens.
Sumbal said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had
directed the FWO to complete the project within one year.
He highlighted that Southern loop of the LRR consists
of three sub-loops including southern-I, II and III, adding
the FWO has started work on I and II loops which is 22 kilometer
long.
He said currently the work on the SL-1 and 2 was
under way, whereas the construction of SL-3, passing through
the Bahria Town, was yet to be started.
To a question, Sumbal said that a culture of speed,
standard and transparency in the execution of development
projects worth billions of rupees had been introduced.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rs 25 billion
southern loop project will comprise over 30 kms, with 11
bridges, six interchanges, six lanes and 18 subways for
motorists and pedestrians.
