ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): ‘World Hearing Day’ is being observed
across the globe including Pakistan on Friday (today), to raise
awareness and promote ear and hearing care around the
world.
A report aired by a private news channel said, this year’s
theme, chosen by the World Health Organisation, is ‘Action for
hearing loss: make a sound investment’, highlighting the impact of
hearing loss on both individuals and society.
“World Hearing Day is an important occasion to remember the
fact that hearing health is about more than just how well a person
can hear. Hearing loss can affect a person’s physical and mental
health, the ability to earn and provide for themselves, as well as
their social involvement.
In connection of World Hearing Day different organizations
have arranged programmes, including walks and seminars in the
country.
More than 360 million people in the world experience hearing
loss, says a new World Health Organisation (WHO) report issued on
the occasion.
