PM’s Fees Reimbursement Scheme’s cheques distributed

SUKKUR, (MILLAT/APP): A cheque distribution ceremony of Prime Minister
Fees Reimbursement Scheme for less developed areas was held at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur on Friday.
The Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Professor Dr Mukhtar
Ahmed was the chief guest on this occasion while Prof. Vice Chancellor
(VC), SALU, Dr. Parveen Shah presided over the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said that the Government
of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
is committed for the promotion of higher education especially the remote areas of Pakistan.
He said that Rs 6.08 billion had been distributed in 114 districts of
Pakistan, adding that it is the right of the students. Prime Minister of Pakistan visualized the importance of higher education so he had taken this initiative to bring them in main stream.
Dr Mukhtar said that 117,000 students have been benefited from this
scheme, for which credit goes to Govt. of Pakistan.
Around Rs 113 million had been received by the SALU Khairpur in a
transparent manner.
He further said that under the reading at the doorstep scheme, within 2
to 3 years 160 Districts of Pakistan, the government will establish the
sub-campuses of Universities in order to provide access to higher education.
He said that in the absence of education, social disintegration,
cultural and religious differences emerged.
He said, the solution of these problems lies in quality education. He
also appreciated the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme for the less developed areas of Pakistan.
The VC SALU Dr Parveen Shah said that the Prime Minister Fees
Reimbursement Scheme for less developed areas, has benefitted the needy students & scholars of less privileged areas. Besides, the provision of laptops to M. Phil & PhD scholars has also boosted the research culture in the country.
She said that both the schemes are appreciable & have no match. These
schemes are appropriately extended to various Universities of the country through HEC, Islamabad.
Dr Shah said that this is not an easy job but the visionary leadership &
passion of Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and his dedicated team had made it possible.
The Focal Person, Prime Minister’s fees reimbursement scheme, Professor
Dr Imdad Hussain Sahito, Professor Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti and Registrar Professor Dr Syed Asad Raza Abidi also spoke.
Professor Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti, Member, Operations, HEC, Pakistan was
the guest of honor.
