Outstanding Badminton champions honoured

KARACHI, March 4 (APP): The outstanding Badminton champions were
honoured at a ceremony held at the DA Sunset Club here on Saturday.
The Administrator DHA, Brig. Shahid Hassan Ali, was the chief
guest on the occasion.
It was pointed out that Pakistan has tremendous talent and
potential to excel in the game of Badminton if proper coaching,
practicing and playing environment is provided to the budding talent.
DHA Clubs provide exciting sports and fitness facilities to the
members and public to develop their talent in various sports.
Defence Authority Sunset Club has produced two outstanding young
players Mahnoor Shehzad and Palwasha Bashir who became Pakistan’s No.1
and No. 2 Badminton Champions at the recently concluded 54th National
Badminton Championship 2017.
A befitting ceremony was held at DA Sunset Club here on Saturday
to honour and recognize the talent of these two promising players.
Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali who was the chief guest
on the occasion awarded shields and a cash award of Rs 25,000 each to
both the outstanding champions.
Talha, a young player who won the Karachi Inter Schools Badminton
Championship this year, was also given a shield.
The Administrator appreciated the exceptional talent and superb
feats of Mahnoor and Palwasha and termed them as the shining stars who
are the pride of the nation.
He said that the glorious success of the two players was the
result of their concerted efforts, superb fitness and total commitment
for the game which deserves commendation.
The Administrator reiterated that DHA will continue to support
and promote sports and all other healthy activities in society as its
socio corporate responsibility.
Both the national champions thanked DHA, their devoted coach
Iftikhar and the Club Secretary for their unflinching support and
patronage which was instrumental in making them the national
champions.
Faisal Khalid, President Pakistan Badminton Association was also
presented a shield as a token of recognition of his meritorious
services for promotion of Badminton in Pakistan.
