Elaborate arrangements afoot to conduct population, housing census in peaceful manner

DI KHAN, Mar 6 (APP): Comprehensive arrangements have been made to conduct new Population and Housing Census from March 15 in a peaceful and transparent manner, across the district.
Commissioner of DI Khan circle Dr Akhtar Nazir Warriach convened a meeting here to review arrangements with regard to peaceful conduct of the new population census in the district like its process would start at same time from March 15 at rest parts of the country.
The commissioner said all out efforts were being made to conduct the Population Census in the district including FATA in a peaceful environment and make the entire process a complete success as it played important role in formulating future policies and development plans of a country, he added.
The meeting was informed that Population Census process would continue in the district from March 15 to March 31 in collaboration and coordination of Pak-Army officials and tribal elders and the exercise would include House listing for three days while over the remaining 11 days population census would be conducted.
The second phase, it was told, would continue from April 15 to April 30 and for this purpose, the district and FATA had been divided in 1073 blocks.
The commissioner said the concerned staff had been imparted proper training and all relevant material was being supplied to perform the entire process in effective manner, directing all the concerned departments to come forward and cooperate for peaceful conduct of the new population census in district.
He also directed the departments to refrain from transfers and postings of concerned staff to ensure transparency and ensure holding of awareness-raising workshops among masses in constituencies of elected representatives about Population and Housing census, its merits and role with regard to the country socio-economic development.
He said that these workshops would help encourage people to come up and enlist names of their families more willingly.
He said steps had been taken to provide foolproof security cover to the deployed staff of the census and in this regard, there was strong coordination between the law enforcement forces, he added.
Earlier, Brigadier Malakand Task force Mazher ur Hassan and Commissioner Mardan Division Zakir Hussain Afridi also held meeting with Provincial Commissioner new Population and Housing Census Mumtaz Ali Khan at Commissioner Office in Mardan and discussed measures for upcoming census.
Major Khalid briefed the meeting regarding the measures for census and said that the census would start from March 15 and to be completed by April 13 this year.
On the occasion Brigadier Mazher directed all Civil and Military Officers to perform their duties in a way to make the census successful and result oriented.
