Punjab Agriculture Department starts marketing service for growers

ISLAMABAD, Mar 6 (APP): Punjab Agriculture Department has
launched modern agriculture marketing service for farmers in order to keep
them updated about daily prices of agri-commodities in their
respective areas.
In a statement received here Monday, a spokesman of the Punjab
Agriculture Directorate said that the prime objective of the modern
marketing facility was to ensure provision of swift information to
local farmers about the pricing trends.
The farmers would also be able to analysis the local prices of
agriculture commodities with the international market by logging
into www.amis.pk, he added.
In order to facilitating the farmers, the whole sale prices of
different agri-commodities would be available in both Urdu and
English languages.
Besides, the Agriculture Department would regularly monitor
and observe the daily prices to update the common man about the
prices of food and agriculture commodities, he added.
The spokesman further said that government was taking measures
to modernize the agriculture sector and it would soon introduce
smart phone software about awareness and marketing of agriculture
products.
After the introduction of smart phone software, the farmers
would be able to update their information by using their cell
phones.
The introduction of modern facilities would help in curtailing
the exploitation of farmers by the middle man and would increase the
business of agri-produces.
