Successful breeding of vulture chicks

LAHORE, (MILLAT/APP): The WWF-Pakistan, for
the second time in two consecutive years, successfully
bred two chicks of critically endangered Oriental
white-backed vultures, in its Changa Manga vulture
conservation facility centre.
Hammad Naqi Khan, Director General WWF-Pakistan,
expressed his pleasure on successful breeding of
endangered species and congratulated the project team.
He said that chicks, now over six weeks, were
growing and developing after surviving critical
period of initial four weeks after hatching.
It may be mentioned here that WWF-Pakistan
launched a captive breeding programme in Changa
Manga Forest Reserve in 2005, to enhance understanding
of vulture lifecycle.
