Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, (MILLAT/APP): Four ships Maersk Salina, Bunga Azalea
Globe Tanya and Umm Bab carrying containers, palm oil, LPG and LNG
were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminals,
Liquid Cargo Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal
respectively on Wednesday.
Meanwhile three more ships, CMA CGM Maupassant, Ocean Quartz and
Lahore with Containers, Project Cargo and Furnace oil also arrived at
outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was reported at the port at forty percent on
Wednesday where a total of six ships, Maersk Salina, Maersk Columbus,
CMA CGM Uruguay, Globe Tanya, Umm Bab, Bunga Azaleand and Balsam are
currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, LPG, LNG Palm
oil and Furnace oil during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 117,993 tonnes,
comprising 83,147 tonnes import cargo and 34,846 tonnes export cargo
inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,644 containers (TEUs)
1,810 TUEs imports TUEs and 1,834 TUEs exports) was handled at the
port.
Oil tanker Balsam sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while
two more ships, Container Vessel CMA CGM Uruguay and LPG carrier Globe
Tanya are expected to sail on same day.
A total of five ships CMA CGM Maupassant, MSC Didem, Sea Hymn,
Ocean Quartz and Chance scheduled to load/offload Containers,
Condensate, Project cargo and Soybean Seeds are expected to take
berths at QICT, Fotco, MW-2 and FAP respectively on Thursday.
While an oil tanker `Lahore’ with 68,149 tonnes Furnace oil is
due to arrive at PQ on same day and two more Container ships Tucapel
and Uni Florida are due to arrive on Friday.
