Football: Leipzig hoping Keita stood down by Guinea

BERLIN, (MILLAT/APP/AFP) – RB Leipzig are hoping
Naby Keita will miss Guinea’s forthcoming friendly internationals as the defensive midfielder works his way back to fitness after collapsing following a Bundesliga match.
The 22-year-old suffered a circulatory collapse upon leaving the
dressing room following Leipzig’s shock 1-0 defeat by Wolfsburg ten days ago.
Test results have thrown no light on exactly what caused Keita to
collapse.
A fifth yellow card meant he was suspended for Saturday’s 3-0 defeat
at Werder Bremen, but was not fit to play having only returned to individual
training last week.
RB Leipzig are hoping Keita will not be involved in Guinea’s
internationals against Gabon in Versailles, France, on Saturday and three days later against Cameroon in Molenbeek, Belgium.
“It was not yet 100 percent clear whether he will fly (to the games)
or not,” Leipzig’s head coach Ralph Hasenhuettl said in Monday’s edition of
magazine Kicker.
“We’re all in the same boat and all want Naby fit and healthy again.”
Leipzig want to increase the load on Keita step by step so that, if
everything goes according to plan, he will be involved in their next league
game against Darmstadt on April 1.
