Indian police arrest scores of youth in Pulwama

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Indian police in Indian occupied
Kashmir have arrested 65 members of Whatsapp groups in Pulwama
ahead of the so-called Indian Parliamentary by-elections in the
territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrests have been
made to prevent demonstrations in the lead-up to the sham polls to
be held in Srinagar and Islamabad constituencies on 9th and 12th
April, 2017.
“The arrests were made in the past three weeks,” Senior
Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Rayees Bhat, said in an
interview.
He said that the persons arrested included administrators
of 30-35 Whatsapp groups. The persons were arrested from several
villages of Pulwama district and also from the main town, he
added.
The police have launched a massive hunt in the area as part
of a major crackdown and so far arrested 90 persons in total ahead
of the by-polls scheduled in Islamabad on April 12.
