KP Govt releases Rs21 bln to LG institutions: Minister

PESHAWAR, (MILLAT/APP): Khyber Pakthunkhwa Senior Minister for Local
Government and Rural Development, Inayatullah Khan Monday clarified that three installment amounting Rs21 billion has been released to LG institutions ie districts, tehsils and villages councils against Rs28 billion allocated in the budget while the fourth installment would soon be released.
He rejected media reports that only 50percent funds would be released
to the local bodies, adding that no shortage or deduction in funds would be made in current financial year and local government institutions would get full funds.
The Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of construction of
roads and renovation of municipal roads in University Town here. Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak formally inaugurated work on the road.
Speaking on the occasion, the LG Minister said the provincial government
on the pattern of Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore, would setup an international standard park in Hayatabad Peshawar on 154 kanal land to provide best recreational facilities to the city dwellers.
The Minister said two parks besides renovation of existing parks in each
sector of Hayatabad are being ensured. Construction work on roads, parks, mosques, green belt and markets at Regi Model Town Peshawar was swiftly underway and Rs560 million have been released to General Manager Suigas to address gas problem.

Road has been included in CPEC and work on it would start soon, the Minister said and added that construction work on Zakori Sharif flyover would commence soon.
The Minister said provision of clean drinking water, restoration of
cleanliness and roads besides beautification of Peshawar was the top most priority of his government and Rs150 million are being spent on widening and construction of footpaths and 27 roads in University Town Peshawar. These projects would ensure smooth flow of traffic besides providing modern civic facilities to people, he concluded.
