ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Indian army in Indian occupied
Kashmir, is conducting a door-to-door survey-cum search operation
in Sopore, causing fear among the residents.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the locals told media
persons that the operation is being carried out by Indian Army’s
Rashtriya Rifles, deployed in the area.
They said that the army personnel were gathering information
about every family living in and around Sopore town.
Residents of Arampora area in Sopore town said that soldiers
of the RR battalion arrived on March 26 and went door-to-door
asking details of families living in the town.
Similar operation is under way for the past three days in
Chinkipora, Maharajpur, Takiyabal, Syed Sultan Mohalla and Nowpora
localities in Sopore.
“They (troops) inquired about our family size, names of
family members, phone numbers, occupations, and even the number of
family members living in and outside the town,” a resident of
Arampora said.
The head of a mohalla committee of Arampora said that on
Sunday when he was at home, soldiers came to his house and asked
about his family members.
“They even asked about my son who is studying outside the
territory. They took my phone number before they left. I didn’t
have the courage to ask them the reason behind this survey.
“I thought that such a survey was being carried out only in
our locality, but I came to know later that the soldiers have been
doing this in our neighbouring localities also,” the head of mohalla
committee said.
