Over 1600 dengue surveillance teams operating in city: Addl DG

LAHORE,(MILLAT ONLINE/APP): Over 1600 teams of dengue surveillance
have been operating in the city to locate and eradicate dengue
larvae.
This was stated by the Additional Director General Health for
Epidemic Prevention and Control Dr. Farrukh Sultan while
talking to APP here on Tuesday. He said that training
programmes for doctors and nurses in hospitals had been
completed to handle dengue patients efficiently.
Responding to a question,he said that special focus was
on graveyards and junkshops in city and intensive anti-dengue spray was being done to eradicate dengue larvae and stop its spread.
To another query,additional Director General informed that only ten cases
of dengue were reported so far in whole of Punjab in which three cases were from Lahore. He said that in DHA extra attention being paid to eradicate
dengue larvae as there were lots of green areas and open spaces.
Meanwhile,Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that
work of dengue surveillance should be expedited and the
concerned institutions should be vigilant to cope with dengue
and perform their duties efficiently.
Issuing instructions to Provincial Cabinet Committee on
Anti-Dengue,the Chief Minister said that all cities of the
province should immediately set to work in a coordinated manner
for coping with dengue threat. He said that the concerned
institutions have to work hard with passion like previous
years.
Shehbaz Sharif said that all out steps should be taken for
saving the people from dengue and a full-scale campaign should be
launched for informing public about anti-dengue measures.
Similarly,the measures being taken for the eradication of
dengue should be monitored through modern technology,he
added.
He said that laxity will not be tolerated in the implementation of plan
evolved for prevention of dengue.
