ISLAMABAD, (APP): The administration in Bandipora misled the
protesting relatives of a young trader from Sumbal who mysteriously went missing on Friday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a section of the administration
told the relatives to call off their protest as the whereabouts of the trader had been found but later in the day police denied having any clue.
The 25-year-old trader, Reyaz Ahmad Beig, a resident of Wangipora
village, dealing with a private cellular company is untraced since Friday afternoon. His father, Abdul Ahad Beig, says that he offered Friday prayers with his son at Jamia Masjid followed by lunch together at home. After taking meals Beig went out to meet someone.
On Tuesday, Beig’s family and fellow villagers again came out to hold
protests and attempted to block Srinagar-Bandipora road. However, they were
persuaded by the civil and police authorities to call off the protest on the
assurance that they would meet their missing relative in the evening as his
whereabouts have been found.
Abdul Ahad Beig said that Deputy Commissioner Bandipora along-with
Deputy Superintendent Police Sumbal and SHO arrived on the spot and told the protesters that Reyaz had been traced in Srinagar. The officials took Reyaz’s policeman brother and some of his friends to their office and assured them that a meeting with the missing youngster would be arranged in the evening.
Following these assurances, the protest was withdrawn.
However, later in the day, it came to fore that the administration had
no information regarding the whereabouts of the missing trader.
Reyaz’s uncle Abdul Ahad Beig said that the administration was playing
with the emotions of his family.
