PESHAWAR, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP): The colourful District Government Games
comprising 15 disciplines for male and 9 for female got under
way at Mardan Sports Complex under the aegis of local district
government on Friday.
District Chairman Sports Monitoring Committee of the District
Government Muhammad Asif Khan, Member District Government Lala
Jee Ali Gohar, District Sports Officer Munawar Khan, Lala Hamayun Khan and President Mardan District Hockey Association Dr. Azam Khan, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
Out of 15 male and nine female games, the opening ceremony was held at
newly hockey ground situated inside Mardan Sports Complex. In the opening match of the District Inter-Club Hockey, Sher Garr Hockey Club defeated Pakistan Club by 4-0. In the second match Bajligar club defeated Young Tiger BY 4-0.
Talking to APP, District Member Ali Gohar disclosed that Mardan
District Govt have chalked out a plan to involve youth of the whole districts in a healthy sports activities. He said fund allocated by the District Govt would be utilized by extending all out support to the players both male and female during the extravaganza. He said it is for the first time that out of the total district fund, funds for the sports activities has been allocated only to promote healthy sports activities at district level.
