`Authorities choking space for peaceful political activities’

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP): Joint resistance leadership
comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin
Malik, in Indian occupied Kashmir strongly condemning the
detention of Hurriyet leaders and restrictions on a condolence
meeting in Budgam has said that the puppet authorities are choking
space for peaceful political activities.
According to KMS, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and
Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said,
“Highhandedness has touched a new height as we were not even
allowed to mourn the killings.”
They said that the puppet authorities were choking genuine
voices and shrinking space for peaceful political activities.
“Indian forces are carrying out a well-thought-out plan of
genocide. We are not allowed to mourn even over martyrs. On April
9, eight precious lives fell to bullets and more that 150 people
received injuries. We had decided to hold a condolence meeting
after Friday prayers at Behisht-i-Zehra Park in Badgam and express
condolence with the families of Budgam martyrs. But the
authorities laid curbs, restricted movement of leadership and
arrested Hurriyet leaders and activists,” they said.
The leaders said that the situation was increasingly turning
from bad to worse, resulting in political uncertainty in the
occupied territory. They hailed the people of Srinagar, Ganderbal
and Budgam for their exemplary poll boycott and said that this had
conveyed a strong message to the world community that election
drama amid ten hundred thousand Indian troops was unacceptable and
could not be a substitute for the Kashmiris’ right to self-
determination.
