Punjab govt taking steps to provide best medical facilities to people’

LAHORE, May 17 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif is committed to provide best medical facilities
to people and the Punjab government is taking number of steps
in this regard.
This was stated by Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute
and Ameer ud Din Medical College Prof Dr Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab
while presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Punjab
Institute of Neuro Sciences (PINS), here on Wednesday.
He said the Punjab government was establishing new hospitals,
upgrading medical institutions and using all possible means for
the provision of modern medical equipments and free of cost
medicines along with increased posts of doctors, nurses and
paramedics.
He said the Chief Minister had also given a gift of modern
Three Tesla MRI machine, for the first time in Pakistan, to the
state of the art centrally air conditioned 500-bed Punjab
Institute of Neuro Sciences at Lahore General Hospital which
would be functional within two months.
He said that all the wards of neurosurgery and neurology
had been made together under one roof at PINS which had eliminated
the problems of doctors, patients and their attendants in addition
to maintenance of hygienic environment.
He further told that presently 250 nurses and 200 paramedics
were serving at PINS in three shifts while 5 ICUs were also functional
to save the lives of patients in critical condition.
He said that 10 high standard operation theaters were also part
of the project out of which 2 were working in functional position.
Pharmacy of PINS was available to patients round the clock for
free delivery of medicine. A modern 128 slices CT scan machine was
being utilized by almost 150 patients daily and the installation of
new digital x-ray machine had also been completed, he said and added
the projects of central research lab and auditorium were also under construction and would be completed very soon.
He said that in order to run PINS in an efficient and smooth
manner and monitor its affairs, a 4-member vigilance committee
headed by Prof Khalid Mahmood had been constituted. This committee
would be responsible to ensure treatment of patients, discipline,
attendance of staff, timely completion of development projects at
PINS and future planning, he added.
The meeting was attended by MS LGH Dr. Ghulam Sabir, Dr.
Syed Islam Zafar, Dr. Jafar Shah, Dr. Sheraz Anjam and others.
