Rs 97,000m allocated for Transport and Mass Transit

LAHORE, June 2 (APP): The Punjab government has
earmarked Rs 97,000 million for the transport sector
in the budget 2017-18.
According to the budget documents, the amount has been
allocated for esnuring citizen-centric, sustainable and growth
oriented modern transport system in Punjab.
The main objectives are provision of safe,reliable,
affordable and efficient transport for people, establishment
of Mass Transit system in major cities, ensuring road safety
for all, efficient operations and effective regulation of
transport services, infrastructure development and up-
gradation, integration of public transport services and
networks, modernize goods transport and freight facilities and
institutional strengthening and capacity building.
An amount of Rs 96,204.725 million has been set aside for
13 ongoing schemes of transport and Rs 795.275 million for two
new schemes.
