EXN among 3 awarded jail, Rs 106.5mln fine

SARGODHA, July 29 (APP): Special judge of an anti-corruption court
awarded 65 years collective rigorous imprisonment and fine to three
officials including an executive engineer (XEN) highways over for corruption.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Director Anti-Corruption
Establishment Asim Raza said that two contractors — Azizullah and
Sanaullah — embezzled million of rupees in collusion with some
officials in the construction of Mianwali Road.
He said XEN Highways Gull Asghar and managers of Alfalah Bank
— Wasim Ahmad Khan and Zeeshan — were also involved in this misappropriation of funds. They withdrew security money amounting
to Rs 42.50 million from the bank and divided among themselves.
The case was lodged with the police and the court, after finding
them guilty, awarded 20 years each rigorous imprisonment to Azizullah
and Sanaullah, along with collective fine of Rs.100.3 million. The
court also awarded 25 years rigorous imprisonment to XEN Gull Asghar
and a fine amounting to Rs 3.5 million.
