Khadija stabbing accused awarded 7-year jail term

LAHORE, July 29 (APP): A local court here Saturday
sentenced the main accused of Khadija Siddiqui case to
seven-year imprisonment after finding him guilty of
stabbing the law student.
The court found Shah Hussain, the son of an influential
person guilty of offence and sent him to jail for seven
years. The convict was arrested from the courtroom.
Khadija’s lawyer Hassan Niazi told the media after the
decision that he was thankful to Chief Justice of Lahore
High Court and the media.
The victim said that society is heading for disaster due
to prevalent lies. “I am thankful that the case reached its
logical conclusion,” she said, adding that she had no enmity
with anyone.
Khadija Siddiqui was attacked by her class fellow on
May 3, 2016, near Shimla Hill where she, along with her
driver, had gone to pick her younger sister from a school.
Both sisters were about to get into their car when
helmet-wearing suspect attacked Khadija with a knife and
stabbed her 23 times leaving her critically injured.
Civil Lines police had registered a case against the
accused on the charge of attempted murder. The convict is
happened to be the son of a lawyer.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah
took administrative notice of Khadija stabbing case in
June 2017 and directed the judicial magistrate to hear the
case on daily basis and conclude it in 30 days.
The court had reserved its verdict in the case on July 27.
