ISLAMABAD, (APP): Pakistan Baitul Mal’s (PBM) Child
Support Programme (CSP) has been paying stipend to over 85,000 school
going children of 35,000 pauper families, said an official of PBM.
Talking to APP, he said Child Support Programme (CSP) is being
continued in 13 districts to provide a continuity of community based
services for children and their families. CSP has helped breaking
vicious cycle of inter generational poverty.
The programme aimed to increase primary education ratio,
increase attendance level, reduce dropout ratio and providing
additional resources to larger and poor families, he said.
PBM was paying Rs 300 per month to the families having one child and
Rs 600 per month to families having two or more than two children.
CSP is being continued in Bhakkar, Rawalpindi, Multan,
Bahawalpur, Islamabad Capital Territory, Muzaffarabad, Ghanche,
Nawabshah, Tharparkar, Ghotki, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Swat, Quetta,
Kharran and Lasbella, he said.
An amount of Rs 184 million has been disbursed among eligible
beneficiaries upon fulfillment of compliance conditionalities.
Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) has disbursed a sum of Rs 150.30
million to deserving persons under various financial assistance
programmes during last 2.5 years.
He said PBM was running 157 Vocational Dastkari Schools to
make vulnerable girls financially self sufficient.
PBM has established 35 Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH) were
providing basic amenities to 3,700 vulnerable kids. The inherent
abilities of poor children are being polished in PSHs, he said.
